State & Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP)
The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 created the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) as an independent authority within National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). The Act directs FirstNet to establish a single, interoperable Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN). The State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP) is a NTIA-administered grant program designed to assist states - in collaboration with regional, tribal, and local jurisdictions, in support of planning, consultation, education and outreach activities, as well as fund efforts to collect data on existing infrastructure and equipment that could be used by FirstNet in building the NPSBN.
